Degreasing chemical for animal & vegetable oils – ALKACLEAN HD (SODIUM BASED)

1. Applications

ALKACLEAN HD (SODIUM BASED) is used for removing animal and vegetable oil residues from cargo holds/tanks. It is also suitable for tank cleaning operations and can be used as a boiler cleaner and neutralizing agent.

The product is compatible with ferrous metals, including stainless steel and epoxy-coated tanks.

Properties:

• Corrosivity: Avoid contact with aluminum, zinc, tin, and their alloys

• Specific Gravity: 1.3 at 20°C

2. Directions for Use

2.1 Cargo Holds / Tanks

Cleaning should be carried out immediately after cargo discharge whenever possible.

• Use with water at temperatures above 60°C for optimal performance

• Apply via:

  • Recirculation using tank cleaning machines

  • Spray systems

  • Steam-assisted cleaning

2.2 “Drying Oil” Residues

• Use 3%–5% solution with fresh water

2.3 “Semi-Drying Oil” Residues

• Use 5% solution with fresh water

NOTE:
Fresh water is recommended. If seawater is used, increase dosage by 1.5 times.

2.4 Boiler Cleaning

• Use 10%–20% solution with fresh water

• Water temperature above 40°C improves efficiency

• Apply by spraying onto surfaces

• Repeat application depending on deposit condition and severity

2.5 Boiler Cleaning Procedure

1. Shut down the equipment to be cleaned

2. Drain all internal water

3. Connect steam line (preferably at the bottom)

4. Connect a circulation pump if available; otherwise use steam for agitation. Vent at the highest point to prevent pressure build-up and allow fumes to escape

5. Charge ALKACLEAN HD (SODIUM BASED) into the system

6. Add fresh water to the required level

7. Heat solution to at least 60°C (140°F) and circulate for 20–24 hours

8. Drain the solution after circulation/agitation

9. For boilers, flush tubes thoroughly with fresh water to remove residual oil deposits
