3. Instructions for Use

6. SOLAS Requirements & Application
According to SOLAS Chapter III, Regulation 7.1.2 and the LSA Code (Life-Saving Appliances Code):
Buoyant lifeline requirement: Each lifebuoy must be fitted with a buoyant line of at least twice the distance from the stowage position to the waterline at the lightest seagoing condition, or not less than 30 meters, whichever is greater.
Rope diameter: Not less than 8 mm, made of a buoyant, non-kinking material suitable for marine use.
Breaking strength: The line must have a breaking strength of at least 5 kN (approx. 500 kg) or higher depending on vessel type.
Placement on board: Lifebuoys fitted with lines must be readily accessible on both sides of the vessel, with at least one lifebuoy equipped with a line positioned at the stern for immediate deployment.
