1. Applications

UNICLEAN OSD ENVIRO R2USE is an oil spill treatment solution for marine environments. It is a pre-diluted oil dispersant (Type II & III approved – UNICLEAN OIL DISPERSANT).

This highly effective dispersant acts on a wide range of oils, breaking oil slicks into fine droplets that are rapidly dispersed by natural water movement. Its specialized formulation prevents re-agglomeration and enhances the biodegradation of oil.

2. Directions for Use

UNICLEAN OSD ENVIRO R2USE should be applied by spraying directly onto oil slicks using spray equipment connected to a pump and storage tank.

• Agitation (e.g. wave action, boat propellers, manual paddles) enhances dispersion

• For small spills, use hand sprayers or fire hose systems

• Particularly suitable for restricted or hard-to-access areas such as alongside ships, quays, and pilings

2.1 Offshore Application

Before application, consider local regulatory, environmental, and socio-economic factors. The optimal method depends on:

• Type of water area

• Type of oil

• Spill volume

Best practice:

• Remove as much oil as possible by mechanical means before applying dispersant

• Dosage depends on oil type

• Effective for light to medium crude oils and fuel oils

• For heavier oils or mousse-like residues, use a higher-strength dispersant (e.g. UNICLEAN OIL DISPERSANT)

Apply dispersant prior to rising tide where possible. In calm or low-tide areas, use hoses to enhance dispersion and flushing from rocks or shorelines.

2.2 Technical Notes

Dispersant effectiveness depends on oil properties such as:

• Pour point

• Viscosity at seawater temperature

Weathering effects (evaporation of light fractions, formation of water-in-oil emulsions) increase viscosity and reduce dispersibility.
